Mudumalai - Masinagudi

The Mudumalai National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary, now also declared a Tiger Reserve, lies on the northwestern side of the Nilgiri Hills. The Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary has varied mixture of flat land, open grassland, undulating parkland, swamp, valleys and nullas. Mudumalai is famous for its elephant habitat and this is one of India's best sanctuaries. It is sandwiched between the Bandipur and Anamalai Sanctuaries. Mudumalai, which means 'first hills’, is one of the first wildlife sanctuaries established in India.

Bandipur National Park is an attractive forest reserve situated in the southern Indian state of Karnataka. It is one of the most fascinating Wildlife Sanctuary in India. Bandipur is about 220 km from Bangalore and only 80 km from Mysore. One such wonderful destination is the Bandipur Wildlife Sanctuary which has thousands of varieties of flora and fauna in the beautiful forests and is a truly mesmerizing experience in itself. There are three beautiful rivers that flow through the Bandipur sanctuary. Bandipur is truly heaven on Earth for nature lovers.

One can visit a picturesque hill retreat; Himvad Gopalaswamy Hills is truly a nature lover's delight and is popularly known as Gopalaswamy Betta. The Gopalswami temple is located on top of the Himvad Gopalswamy betta. Gopalswami Betta hills are a trekker's delight and a popular holiday resort too.

Nagarhole Wildlife Adventure

Nagarahole used to be the private hunting grounds of the Maharaja of Mysore and was converted to a 285 sq kms Wildlife sanctuary in 1955. It was expanded and achieved National Park status in 1983.

Wildlife in India abounds in this national park. Scientific research discovered that ungulates and primates attain a density of 91 animals per sq kms. in this park Among the favorite sightings are those of wild Asian elephants, Gaur (Indian bison) - the largest wild oxen in the world, spotted deer, barking deer, mouse deer, Sambar, sloth-bears, marsh crocodiles, otters, dhole or Indian wild dogs, leopards and tigers. Interestingly, the mouse deer, found only in Sri Lanka and South India, is a solitary nocturnal animal that kills and eats other small animals.

Nagarahole is one of the finest habitats for the Royal Bengal Tiger. Nagarahole boasts of the having the highest density of Bengal Tiger in the world. Some experts also believe that it is the best place in India to see the leopard. Leopard sightings are reported on a fairly regular basis.

Dandeli Wildlife Adventure
